ETM implemented a lot of international and domestic projects in scientific research sector. The following are some outstanding projects completed:

Provincial Scientific Research Projects:

  • Project on review and update database on waste sources and wastes from production, trade and service activities in Ho Chi Minh City - Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City.
  • "Analysis of micro-plastic sample"of research topic on theoretical and practical basis to propose policies to control micro-plastic pollution in Vietnam” – Institute of Environmental Science.
  • Performing the task of scientific and technological research "Studying the level of sludge pollution from dredging of rivers, canals and arroyos in Ho Chi Minh City and developing a manual on treatment and use waste sludge from the dredging of rivers, canals and arroyos" –HoChiMinhCityScienceandTechnologyDevelopment Fund.
  • Greenhouse gas inventory in Ho Chi Minh City – Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City 2018 (GHG inventory year 2020) .
  • Greenhouse gas inventory in Ho Chi Minh City – Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City 2016 (GHG inventory year 2019).
  • Assessing to greenhouse gas emissions in the industry that affect to climate change;  developing the mitigation and response measures for the industry and trade sector in Dong Nai province to 2020.
  • Setting the solid waste management database in Ho Chi Minh City – Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Project on preparation of bidding plan for collection and transportation of domestic solid waste in Ho Chi Minh City period 2015 – 2020 – Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Compiling documents of improving knowledge on biological diversity preservation and safety in Dong Nai Province.
  • Assessing the impact and producing the script of climate changes and sea level rise for Dong Nai Province up to 2100.
  • Developing the action plan & troubleshooting for the impact of climate changes on the Industry and Trade sectors of Dong Nai province in the period of 2012 –2015.
  • Developing and deploying the action plan & troubleshooting for the impact of climate change for the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Dong Nai Province.
  • Investigating and assessing bed sludge quality of Thi Vai River, Dong Nai Province.
  • Assessing the biological degradability of Phanerochaete Chrysoporium (white rot fungus) for non-biodegradable organic matters in leachate.
  • Investigating the status of environment quality and researching, proposing solutions for environmental pollution treatment caused by chemical production and storage in Dong Nai Province.
  • Researching on the impacts of landfills on groundwater layers (e.g. Go Cat, Dong Thanh, Phuoc Hiep) in Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Investigating the status of river basins and proposing appropriate solutions for environmental protection and preservation measures for the natural resource and biological diversity of Tay Ninh Province.
  • Establishing solutions for POPs prevention and management program – plan for 2010 and 2011.
  • Setting action plan & troubleshooting for the impact of climate changes on the Trade sector of Dong Nai province in the period of 2012 –2015.
  • Investigating, assessing, and proposing solution for biologicaldiversitypreservation and safety in Dong Nai province in the period of 2012 -2020.
  • Creating a master plan for the hazardous and industrial solid wastes management system in Ho Chi Minh City, in the period of 2006-2020.
  • Researching on minimizing environmental pollution and reusing biologically degradable products in old landfills.
  • Researching on pollution minimizing solutions for old landfills and reusing degradable products for agriculture.
  • Building model of eco-industrial zone - case study in Linh Trung Industrial Zone.

National Scientific Research Projects:

  • Project of PCB management – Package CS13/VEA – Development of national plan and measures for capacity building on prevention, response and remediation of environmental incidents related to PCBs/POPs/PTS, Vietnam Environment Administration (MONRE) - Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment Agency (Ministry of Industry andTrade).
  • PCB management project in Vietnam: CS5 Package – Four non-EVN Sites Specific Investigation - Vietnam PCB Management, Vietnam Environment Administration (MONRE) - Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment Agency (Ministry of Industry andTrade).
  • Project of PCB management – Package CS7/VEA - Non-EVN northern and southern Site, Vietnam Environment Administration (MONRE) - Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment Agency (Ministry of Industry andTrade).
  • Project of PCB management – Package CS4/ISEA - National PCB Action Plan - Vietnam PCB Management, Vietnam Environment Administration (MONRE) - Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade).
  • Updating Vietnam National Implementation Plan for the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutant (POPs) – Package No. 2 – inventory of new POPs, Vietnam PCB Management – Vietnam Environment Administration/Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment Agency Project Management Unit.
  • Investigating and researching on assembling the assessment standards for the treatment system of emission gas and wastewater in Vietnam.
  • Managing domestic and industrial solid wastes for 9 provinces of the South East Region.
  • Improving the environmental condition at the closed Dong Thanh landfill.
  • Applying environmental technology and management solutions for the construction of environmentally friendly industrial park models.
  • Establishing technical guidelines for environmental pollution treatment for domestic solid waste landfills in operation and after closure.

International Scientific Research Projects:

  • Package 3A - Implementing the program to propagate the strengthening of public awareness and social responsibility for Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Sanitation Project (Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe Basin), funded by the World Bank.
  • PCB Management and Disposal Demonstration Project: PCB Sampling, Testing and Mapping in 10 provinces, sponsored by GEF.
  • Demonstration project for industrial waste management e-manifest system in Ho Chi Minh City, sponsored by JETRO, Japan.
  • Investigating the status of hazardous waste and industrial solid waste management system in Ho Chi Minh City in framework of constructing hazardous waste and industrial solid waste treatment complex zone in Ho Chi Minh City, sponsored by Mitsui Corporation, Japan.
  • Researching on Bio-waste Reuse in South-East Asian Cities in cooperation with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT)-Thailand, Philippines University in Los Banos–Philippines, Wageningen University – The Netherlands, Wasteconsultancy The Netherlands, Bauhaus University, and Weimar – Germany.
  • Industrial wastewater management in river basins of Nhue, Day, and Dong Nai in cooperation with Les Consultants LBCD Inc., assigned by the Ministry of Planning and Investment in cooperation with the World Bank.
  • Researching on sustainable development of tapioca processing industry in Vietnam in framework of ARRPET 2 project in cooperation with environmental organizations of India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, sponsored by SIDA.
  • Investigating cultivated soil characteristic in framework of safety use of crop protection product in the horticulture sector in Vietnam (SUPHORT), in cooperation with Alterra, Wageningen University, The Netherlands.
  • Researching on the rubbery wastewater treatment in cooperation with Wageningen University, The Netherlands.
  • Researching on the appropriate methods for textile wastewater treatment in cooperation with Wageningen University, The Netherlands
  • Researching on the rubbery wastewater treatment in cooperation with Japan Environment Consultants Co., Ltd, Japan.
  • Reusing sludge from industrial production for agricultural soil improvement.
  • Researching on the intensive shrimp farming wastewater treatment in framework of ARRPET 1 project in cooperation with environmental organizations of India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines Sri Lanka, and Thailand, sponsored by SIDA.
  • Researching on tapioca wastewater treatment in framework of ARRPET 1 project in cooperation with environmental organizations of India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines Sri Lanka, and Thailand, sponsored by SIDA.
  • Energy Recovery From Waste Plastics: case studies of Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provinces.
