Meeting the strictest GMO control requirements

Under EU regulations, specifically Directive 2001/18/EC and Regulation (EC) 1829/2003, GMO control is mandatory to protect human and animal health as well as the environment. Products containing GMOs above a 0.9 % threshold must be clearly labeled, while in Vietnam, Japan, and South Korea, this threshold is set at 5 %.

To assist our clients in complying with these requirements, we have achieved ISO 17025 certification - an international standard for laboratory competence - for 8 critical GMO screening procedures:

Promoters: P-35S (Cauliflower mosaic virus), FMV 35S (Figwort mosaic virus)
Terminator: T-NOS (Agrobacterium tumefaciens)
Resistance Genes: Cry1Ab/Ac (insect resistance), CP4 EPSPS (glyphosate resistance), Pat (glufosinate resistance), Bar (bialaphos resistance), nptII (neomycin antibiotic resistance)

These procedures cover the most common regulatory elements, trait genes, and marker genes found in commercial GMOs, enabling rapid and accurate detection of GMO presence in samples. The ISO 17025 certification ensures the reliability and legal validity of our analytical results, opening export opportunities for businesses targeting demanding markets like the EU.

100 % GMO Soybean Detection – A Comprehensive and Continuously Updated Solution

We have also successfully developed a solution to detect 100 % of genetically modified soybeans, based on data from globally approved GMO lines, including specific events such as CV127 and DP305423.

GMO soybeans dominate the global market at an astonishing rate:

94 % of soybean acreage in the United States-the world’s largest producer (USDA 2023)
96 % in Brazil and nearly 100 % in Argentina
In the EU, only about 5 % of soybean demand is met by domestic production, with over 19 million tons of imported soybeans annually - primarily GMO - used for animal feed and processed foods.
