Some methods can be mentioned from simple to complex such as direct counting in the red blood cell counting chamber, counting on selective agar plates, analysis of mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS), sequencing of 16S/23S-genes- 5S RNA Ribosomal; whole genome sequencing (WGS)… Flexible use of many different methods is considered the most optimal choice.
