EU Regulation 2022/1364: amendments to EC regulation 1881/2006 on the maximum limit of hydrocyanic acid in certain products effective from 1 January 2023
Hydrocyanic acid is a highly toxic substance, although it is not present in foods at levels relevant to toxicity, it is released when foods containing cyanogenic glycosides are hydrolyzed by enzymes. Values are compared when referring to the Cyanide form, which has been replaced and added to section 8 of Ec 1881/2006, as shown in the table below.
EU Regulation 2022/1370 amending EC regulation 1881/2006 on maximum limits for ochratoxin A in certain foods comes into force from 1 January 2023
The regulation expanded the product further and reduced the maximum allowable limit for ochratoxin A in products that were previously established. Some additional changes in the regulations worth noting:
- Roasted coffee group:
- Ground coffee: reduced from 5 to 3 g/kg
- Instant coffee: reduced from 10 to 5 g/kg
- Group of spices: divided in more detail from section 2.214 to 2.2.17 in the regulation.
- Additional regulations for the group of nuts are in Sections 2.2.18, 2.2.19.
- Additional regulations for Cocoa powder with the level of 3.0 µg/kg.

Directive (EU) 2020/2184 regulating the quality of drinking and domestic water was officially applied on January 12, 2023, replacing most of the Directive 98/83 EC standard.
Highlights in this regulation EU sets the threshold for controlling residues of compounds: Bisphenol A, Chlorate, Chlorite, Haloacetic Acids, Microcystin-LR, PFAS Total, and Sum of PFAS. Uranium. The time to control and change to new regulations with this group of targets is until January 12, 2026.

Additional changes to the maximum residues of some pesticides according to (EU) 2022/1343 and (EU) 2022/1346 are valid from 22/02/2023.
- (EU) 2022/1343: add appendices II and III of (EC) No 396/2005 to maximum limit the active ingredients acequincyl, chlorantrannuliprolr and emametin in some products.

Japanese market and valid regulations from 2023
Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) has issued an additional regulation to change the MRLs of 6 active pesticides and antibiotics in food, effective on November 22, 2022, but officially mandatory. on November 22, 2023.
