Eurofins Sac Ky Hai dang would like to share an important parameter in milk and dairy products which is veterinary drug residues!

Nowadays, milk and dairy products seem to be indispensable products in every family especially those who have children. As life is getting more and more modern, the need of using high-qualified products is also increasing rapidly. Of those, milk and its products thereof can be considered as the top priorities which are often chosen by the housewives and quality of the products are their main concern. Therefore, the capability of controlling quality products of the manufacturers is the prerequisite that makes consumers totally trust in choosing the best dairy brands for their families.

Depending on the demands as well as the diets of different generations in families, milk companies have been launching various corresponding product lines. However, besides the main nutritional components as well as other safety parameters such as heavy metals, mycotoxins, microbiological parameters…, we should also focus on how the manufacturers control safety parameters such as the residues of veterinary drugs. Through this article, Eurofins Sac Ky Hai dang would like to share an important parameter in milk and dairy products which is veterinary drug residues!

Why there are antibiotic residues in milk products?

The main material for milk is still cow milk, goat milk, or sheep milk. During animal husbandry, veterinary drugs are commonly used in dairy cattle management for therapy and prophylaxis of diseases such as penicillin, ampicillin, streptomycin, chloramphenicol, kanamycin,… In which, chloramphenicol (CAP) is currently banned due to the risk to consumer health if there is residue in foodstuff. In modern industrialized countries as the EU, controlling veterinary drugs residues in foods of animal origin has been being carried out strictly since a long time ago Vietnam, regulations related to MRL of veterinary drugs in raw materials for foodstuff production are mentioned specifically in Circular 24/2013/TT-BYT.

Controlling veterinary residues in milk

The leading milk and dairy products producers in Vietnam as well as international manufacturers have been controlling veterinary drugs residues from their farms.  Besides applying the HACCP system, Milk and dairy products manufacturers require their farmers to veterinary drugs in a proper way during husbandry procedures.

Eurofins Sac Ky Hai Dang can perform veterinary drug residues in various matrices and we are ISO 17025 accredited.
